Taxi driver, 22, busted with over 50 pounds of marijuana

A 22-year-old taxi driver has landed himself in hot water after he was nabbed with 52 pounds of marijuana at Ramp Road, Ruimveldt, Georgetown, on Saturday.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF), in a statement, said at about 22:00h, ranks acting on information received intercepted a Premio motor car bearing registration number PAC 4402 at Ramp Road, Ruimveldt.
At the time of the interception, the 22-year-old man of Lot 1 ‘B’ Shell Road, Kitty, Georgetown, was the lone occupant. A search was conducted on the vehicle, and a salt bag containing the marijuana was found.
The 22-year-old was told of the offence, cautioned, arrested, and taken to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters at Eve Leary. He remains in custody as the investigation continues.
