A 28-year-old taxi driver of Bartica, Region Seven, is in Police custody after a search of his apartment unearthed over 30 grams of marijuana.

In a statement, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said that ranks from the Bartica Police Station at about 22:00h on Friday went to the apartment of Noel Tobin and conducted a search.

During the search, a suitcase, two shopping bags, and two transparent plastic bags were opened and contained marijuana. As a result, Tobin was arrested, told of the offence committed, and cautioned.

He was escorted along with the narcotics to Bartica Police Station, where he was placed in custody. The marijuana, according to the Police, when weighed in Tobin’s presence, amounted to 33,470 grams.
