Taxi driver charged with the possession of illegal gun, ammo

28-year-old Danesh Mahadeo, a taxi driver of LBI Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was today remanded to prison, two days after police allegedly found an illegal firearm and ammunition in his possession.

ahadeo was hauled before Magistrate Fabayo Azore in the Cove and John Magistrate Court and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The court heard that on January 24, 2022, the taxi driver was arrested by police and was found with a firearm and ammunition without being the holder of a firearm license.

He was remanded to prison until March 8, 2022.
