Omawalie Caesar, also known as "Wallie," has been sentenced to 24 months imprisonment by Magistrate Dylon Bess after he was caught stealing a magistrate’s phone.

Back in November, when the charge was instituted, Caesar, of Lot 1235 "B" Field Sophia had pleaded not guilty to a simple larceny charge and was remanded to jail.

The charge against Caesar stated that on November 23rd, 2021, at Battery Road, Kingston, while in the company of others, he stole one Samsung Galaxy Note 9, valued at $200,000; the property of Senior Magistrate Leron Daly.

The court heard that on the day in question, the magistrate left her car secured with the item inside. Upon her return, she realized that the phone was missing.

She made a report at the police station, and a probe was launched. During the investigation, CCTV footage was obtained showing the defendant.
