Tewatia hits double sixes off final two balls in spectacular finish for Gujarat Titans
In a nail-biting finish in today’s IPL, Rahul Tewatia hit two sixes off the final two balls to make the winning runs for the Gujurat Titans.
The match came down to twelve runs needed from two balls for the Gujurat Titans to continue their IPL win streak.
Some spectacular action with the bat from Rahul Tewatia, who smashed two sixes on the final two balls, handed the titans victory over the Punjab kings.
Tewatia: "Amazing feeling. There was nothing to think! Just go there and hit sixes, that's what me and David where thinking. I planned against Smith... The last ball was off the middle of the bat, and I knew it was six. The first ball he bowled was wide outside off, and so I thought the last ball was going to come there too. Staff is really chilled here. They just tell us practice hard..."
Chasing 190, Titans needed 62 from the last six overs with nine wickets in hand. But that one big over that would have titled the game in Titans' favour didn't come until the very end.
Player of the match, Shubhman Gill set up the victory for the Titans early on, scoring a career-best 96 off 59 balls.
Then with 12 needed, Tewatia smashed the last two balls over deep midwicket to steal the victory. The boundary-rider got his hands on the first one but couldn't carry it inside.
The next was a six the moment it hit the bat, leading to frenzied celebrations from Tewatia.
