Thirty-three-year-old Damian Bissoon, who has been evading Police for the past four years, was today slapped with a murder charge.
Bissoon of Lot 44 Shell Road, Kitty, Georgetown, was hauled before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and was not required to plead to the indictable charge.
The charge stated that on March 30, 2018, at Barr & Alexander Streets, Kitty, he murdered Taj Andrew Jarvis.
The court heard that on the day in question, Jarvis was at Barr & Alexander Streets, Kitty, when Bissoon approached him and demanded money from him.
Jarvis replied, “I don’t have no money,” and the accused dealt him several cuts about his body before he dealt him several stab wounds to his stomach.
As a result of the injuries he sustained, Jarvis reportedly fell to the ground and the accused made good his escape.
The injured man was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
In April 2018, a wanted bulletin was issued for Bissoon, but he managed to evade police until Monday when he turned himself in along with lawyer George Thomas.
After listening to the facts of the matter, the Chief Magistrate remanded him to prison until May 17.
