Tractor topples with driver in rice field
The police in Region Six are making efforts to rescue a driver who is currently pinned underneath a tractor in a rice field on the Corentyne after the vehicle flipped just after midday today.
According to information received, Rakesh Loojune was ploughing a rice field in Wellington Park Corentyne Berbice when the incident took place.
An eyewitness identified as, 23 year old Vishaun Ganesh, a self employed of Wellington Park, Corentyne Berbice, told investigators that Loojune was employed by him to plough his rice field. However, while he was ploughing the said rice field the tractor flipped over and pinned him.
Regional Commander, Shivpersaud Bacchus, confirmed the incident and noted that efforts are currently being made by the police and public spirited citizens to rescue Loojune.
