Traffic at standstill as Tug and barge slam into Demerara Harbour Bridge
Traffic over the Demerara Harbour Bridge came to a halt on Sunday after a Tug and Barge slammed into the floating structure.
MTV News Update understands that the Tug and Barge hit the retractor nine span, and officials are on the scene.
In a statement on Facebook, the Corporation said that Engineers are currently conducting maintenance work.
“Management would like to apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,” the statement concluded.
Only in March, a tug and barge crashed into the 44-year-old bridge, dislocating a pontoon anchoring chain.
