Three men are in Police custody following the discovery of five live .32 rounds of ammunition in the motor car they were travelling in on Sunday.

A statement by the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said that police officers conducted a traffic enforcement exercise on the Helena Number 2 Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

During the exercise, motor car PSS 7252, which was driven by a 28-year-old carpenter, stopped and he hurriedly entered the Sun Flower Supermarket. He was followed by two other occupants: a 25-year-old and a 26-year-old.

Upon observing the men’s suspicious movements, the ranks went to the supermarket and spotted the trio, whom they claimed began behaving disorderly.

The men and the vehicle were escorted to the Mahaica Police Station, where a search was conducted. During the search, five live .32 rounds of ammunition were found on the floor mat behind the driver’s seat.

They were told of the allegation, arrested, and placed in custody pending investigation.
