Truck driver busted with ganja claims 'Rastaman' asked him to deliver to the West Side
A 41-year-old truck driver who was nabbed with a quantity of marijuana has claimed that it was given to him by a “Rastaman” to be delivered to the West Coast of Demerara (WCD).
The truck driver, who has been identified as Reaaz Bacchus of New Amsterdam, Berbice, was arrested on Friday in the vicinity of Bagotstown Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD), after a search of the vehicle unearthed the marijuana.
According to the Guyana Police Force (GPF), the narcotic was found in a toolbox located under the lorry in two bulky shopping bags.
Bacchus, who was the lone person in the vehicle at the time, was told of the offence committed and cautioned.
He was arrested and escorted to the Providence Police Station along with the marijuana, which, when weighed, amounted to 9.25 kilograms. He was placed into custody as the investigation continues.
