TSU Rank arrested for causing Berbice fatal accident

A Tactical Service Unit (TSU) rank is currently in Police custody as the investigation continues into the circumstances surrounding an accident that resulted in the death of 43-year-old Aubrey Sears.

Sears was riding a motorcycle along the entrance of the Berbice River Bridge at Palmyra on Sunday evening when the TSU rank was driving a motor car that collided with him.

According to the mother of his three children, Tricia McCurdy, she was at home at about 18:00h when she received the news that her children’s father was involved in an accident.

She said other relatives immediately rushed to the scene to investigate, but upon arrival, the body was already taken to the New Amsterdam Regional Hospital.

“According to people around the policeman said that Aubrey ride into his lane and that caused the accident and at one point someone said that he look back, but my point is everything happen over in Aubrey lane that he was riding in and there was no mark on the spot,” she added.

She said the deceased was employed with a contractor and was in Region Six to operate one of the machines. She noted that he was on his way back home when the accident took place.

“Aubrey was a loving person, very caring, and he would walk a mile for his three children, and he would sadly be missed by all.”

Aubrey’s father also died six years ago following a motorcycle accident, and there has been no justice in that matter.

Meanwhile, another accident took place on the Palmyra Public Road at the weekend involving a police vehicle and a motor car. Luckily, everyone escaped unharmed.
