Two arrested in Berbice in connection with Laing Avenue shooting earlier this month
The Police in Berbice led by inspector Vickram Looknauth, were able to apprehend the suspects who were wanted for questioning in connection with a shootout in Laing Avenue Georgetown that resulted in the death of 53-year-old Dexter McFarlene of West Ruimveldt Georgetown.
The suspects who have been identified as 23-year-old Shemroy Patterson of Castello Housing Scheme and a 16-year-old were both apprehended in a house located at No.51 village on the Corentyne.
According to information received, the two suspects were making arrangements to head across to neighbouring Suriname when they were nabbed by the special patrol.
On November 11, a group of males was exchanging shots at each other when a stray bullet hit 53 year old Dexter McFarlane who was walking along the road at the time.
Following the incident, the suspects fled the area.
They are currently in police custody assisting with the investigations.
