Two busted with 18 pounds of ganja at Meadow Bank
Two men ages 30 and 36 were arrested on Monday following the discovery of 18 pounds of cannabis, a camouflage hat, shirt, pants, mask, gloves, a bulletproof vest, and a pair of black boots.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) stated that at about 10:00 h, on the day in question, ranks, while patrolling through a street in Meadow Bank, Georgetown observed two males fetching a blue plastic barrel into an empty lot.
Upon seeing the ranks, the suspects immediately ran out empty-handed. The ranks managed to restrain the two males and escorted them back into the lot and discovered a blue plastic barrel under a black cover.
The ranks opened the barrel in the presence of the two suspects, which contained a crocus bag.
Inside the bag, there were five bulky brown parcels that were all taped and contained seeds, leaves, and stems suspected to be cannabis. There was also a multi-coloured bag that contained one camouflage hat, shirt, pants, mask, gloves, a bulletproof vest, and one pair of black boots.
The suspects were told of the offence, and they denied it. The duo, along with the suspected narcotics and the other items, were taken to the Ruimveldt Police Station, where the drugs were weighed and amounted to 18 pounds.
