Two found guilty over Linden execution-style killing

Stafrei Alexander and Owen Belfield, who is accused of the 2015 murder of Linden resident, Richard Remington, have been found unanimously guilty by a 12-person jury.
Alexander, also known as “Ratty” and “Mad Dog,” and Belfield are jointly charged with murdering Remington between February 9 and 12, 2015, at Wismar, Linden.
Following their arraignment before Demerara High Court Judge Brassington Reynolds in February, the duo had pleaded not guilty to the joint murder charge.
However, a 12-member jury found them guilty of the charge. As such, the duo was remanded to April 22, where they are expected to be sentenced.
The convicts are being represented by Attorney-at-Law Adrian Thompson, while State Counsel Seeta Bishundial presented the prosecution’s case.
Reports are that the decomposed remains of Remington were found in a clump of bushes along a track in the vicinity of Matthews Lane in Christianburg/ Cholmondeley Hill, Linden.
Government Pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh had testified that Remington was shot twice to his right-side temple. The forensic pathologist gave the man’s cause of death as gunshot injuries to the head.
