Unidentified pedestrian killed by Policeman on Coldingen Public Road

A pedestrian, suspected to be 60 years old, was allegedly struck down and killed by a Police Constable on the Coldingen Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD), on Sunday.

In a statement, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said that at about 01:45h, the Police Constable was driving east along the northern side of the Coldingen Public Road in motor car PAE 2960 when the pedestrian allegedly walked into the path of the vehicle.

As a result, the car collided with the pedestrian, who fell onto the roadway and sustained injuries to the body.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by Emergency Medical Technicians. The body was escorted to Georgetown Public Hospital’s mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination.

“A breathalyser test conducted on the driver of motor car PAE 2960 showed a reading of .000%.  He was served with notice of intended prosecution,” the Police said in the statement.
