Update -'Farmer' admits to slitting man's throat with grass knife
A 40-year-old New Amsterdam man has admitted to police that he used a grass knife and slit the throat of 36-year-old Jermaine Delias called deportee of 44 Stanleytown New Amsterdam earlier today.
The incident took place at about 11:30 hours at Main and Kent Streets, New Amsterdam.
According to information received, Dexroy Ogleton called ‘Farmer’ of 24 Alexander Street, New Amsterdam was attacked by the deceased who was armed with a mop stick. The deceased reportedly attacked ‘Farmer’ following a misunderstanding.
A police source told MTV News update that the suspect had on a haversack with inside a grass knife. The officer noted that during the altercation, the suspect pulled out the weapon and “swing it” toward the deceased who received a wound to the neck.
The victim collapsed on the main access road where he was later picked up by ranks who were summoned to the scene and taken to the New Amsterdam Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Persons in the area indicated that the incident began at the Superbet shop but they said they managed to separate the two. However, the fight then escalated onto the public road where the victim received a fatal wound to the neck.
Investigations are ongoing.
