Vagrant found dead in Cummings Lodge trench

The body of a man identified only as ‘Saray,’ who is reportedly a vagrant, was on Tuesday found motionless in a trench at 10th Field, Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

The man of East Indian descent was found lying on his left side, clad in a gray jersey and long blue jeans, partially underwater at about 06:30h.

Emergency Medical Technicians from the Central Fire Service responded, and the victim was pronounced dead by a doctor from the Georgetown Public Hospital.

The scene was processed by crime scene ranks, who examined the body for marks of violence, but none were seen.

The man’s body is currently at the Memorial Gardens Mortuary awaiting identification and a post-mortem examination.
