Dead is Adrian Williams of San Martin and Quartzstone Landing, Cuyuni River. The Guyana Police Force (GPF) said the fatal incident occurred at about 00:30h.

According to the Police Force, on Thursday night, Williams, the suspect, and another Venezuelan national known as ‘Barber’ were imbibing at a shop.
The shop owner stated that he locked up his establishment and went to bed around 23:00h. Shortly after, at about 23:30h, he was awakened by a loud commotion outside. On investigating, he saw Williams and Barber in a heated scuffle, which onlookers eventually broke up.
Another resident reported that around 00:30h on Friday, he heard a loud noise and went outside to find ‘Pellupa’ standing over Williams with a cutlass, attempting to further harm him.
Onlookers managed to deter ‘Pellupa,’ who then fled the scene, leaving Williams bleeding profusely in the middle of the walkway.
Police ranks were promptly informed and arrived at the scene to find Williams’ body. He was wearing only short pants, with no footwear or top. Upon examination, officers found several chop wounds to Williams’ right chin, throat, the left side of his head, and his right shoulder.
A small bottle of rum was found in Williams’ pants pocket. The Police Force noted that efforts are underway to apprehend both ‘Pellupa’ and ‘Barber,’ who were last seen with Williams before the attack.
