Venezuelan national slapped with two counts of simple larceny

A Venezuelan national was today slapped with two counts of simple larceny.
28-year-old Janithan Garicia of North Road was hauled before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The first charge stated that between March 19 – 20, 2022, at Cummings Street Bourda, Georgetown, he stole one Samsung Galaxy valued at $200,000, one pair Timber Land sneaker valued at $29,000, and one pair of Aldo Sneaker valued at $16,000, property of Sharmilla Watson.
The other charge stated that between the same dates, at the exact location, he stole one Samsung smartwatch valued at $70,000, one Samsung Galaxy cellphone valued at $380,000, one pair of Nike Sneakers valued at $20,000, one Baseball Cap valued at $9,000 and one Rayban sunglasses valued $26,000, property of Ashbel Watson.
After listening to the facts of the matter, Chief Magistrate sentenced Garicia to 12 months imprisonment on one of the counts and remanded him on the other.
He is scheduled to make another court appearance on March 30.
