Venezuelan nationals fatally stab man, steal and crash his car in Little Diamond

Ken Sukhdeo

Ken Sukhdeo, a 33-year-old Venezuelan national who resided at Mocha, East Bank Demerara (EBD), was knifed to death by two of his countrymen at Vreed-en-Rust on Tuesday night.

In a statement, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said the incident occurred at about 22:10h.

According to the report, Sukhdeo, accompanied by his 23-year-old Venezuelan girlfriend Feranda Perez, drove to the Seven Eleven Chinese Supermarket in Diamond.

There, Police said they met 19-year-olds Louie Angadle and Jose Harrland of 19th Avenue, Diamond. The two suspects would normally give the now-deceased man US currency to send to their respective families in Venezuela.

The two suspects entered the back seat of Sukhdeo’s car, and he drove to Vreed-en-Rust. There, Angadle allegedly pulled out a knife and attacked Sukhdeo, delivering multiple chops and stab wounds to his head and body.

Harrland, also armed with a knife, joined in, inflicting several stab wounds on Sukhdeo.

Despite his injuries, the 33-year-old man managed to stop the car and fled, leaving Perez behind. The suspects then turned their attack on Perez, who managed to escape.

Angadle and Harrland fled in Sukhdeo’s car, eventually crashing it at Little Diamond New Housing Scheme. They then fled the scene with Sukhdeo’s black shoulder bag containing documents and money.

Sukhdeo and Perez were both treated at the Diamond Diagnostics Centre. Perez was treated for wounds to her upper leg and right breast, while Sukhdeo succumbed to his injuries.

An examination revealed nineteen stab wounds on Sukhdeo’s body, including his head, lower abdomen, left chest area, both hands and lower back.

Following a tip-off, police ranks apprehended Harrland at 11th Avenue Diamond, where he had been held and assaulted by public-spirited citizens.

Harrland, found with a swollen face and multiple marks on his body, was handed over to the police.

A black shoulder bag belonging to Sukhdeo was recovered from him, containing US$145, GYD$5,800, and three cell phones: a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, a Redmi, and an ATT cell phone. Police are searching for the other suspect as the investigation continues.
