Venezuelan sex worker died from manual strangulation, blunt trauma – PME
A Post-Mortem Examination (PME) conducted on the body of Miracarmen Rodrigues Serrano, a Venezuelan sex worker who was strangled and raped, revealed that she died from manual strangulation and blunt trauma to the head.
Government Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh performed the PME at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Friday. The woman’s sister, Algandrina Rodrigues, identified her body after the PME.
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) said the suspect, Terrance Miguel, was brought out of Quartzstone Backdam on Friday.
According to the GPF, the suspect confessed to the crime, which occurred on July 29, 2024, during a video interview with detectives.
He told detectives that on the day in question, he had initially paid Serrano, 25, to have sexual intercourse with her.
However, he requested to have another round of sexual intercourse without paying, but she refused. As such, Police said Miguel admitted to attempting to force himself on her, resulting in her resistance. He then choked and raped her, leaving her lying unconscious.
After committing the act, the suspect left the woman’s room, and it was the landlord who made the discovery.
