Verde by South Atlantic, a company promoting an eco-friendly environment set International Building Expo 2022 abuzz with curiosity with the introduction of the unique ‘plastic house.’
This company is using plastic to make a 100% recycled home.
Though many persons may have questions about the longevity and sustainability of this house, the company’s Chief Executive Officer Alfonso De Armas has assured that it is long lasting, durable, and fire-proof.
But that is not the best part of owning this home, the CEO said that this home can be constructed in two weeks!
“From the time you made the decision that you want this house, to the time you are ready to move in, the maximum time is two weeks,” the CEO said while speaking with MTV News Update.
De Armas said he believes the introduction of this eco-friendly house on the local market will fall in line with the Government’s vision since the house can be supplied on a large scale while sustaining the environment.
“It works really well in Guyana, because it is quick, really high quality, durable, sustains the element, it’s imperative to termite, its water and fire proof and you can deploy it very quickly” he related.
A standard 600- square-foot house can be sold at approximately $5.7m and some “nine to ten tonnes” of plastic will be used for its construction.
The plastic is currently being imported but plans are in place to set up a facility locally so that local plastic can be used for construction.
Over the past three days De Armas said the response from the public on this project has been “tremendous.”
The house has a rustic finish but can be painted and customised to the purchaser's requirements. The model is on display at the National Stadium and patrons are encouraged to visit.
This project is one of many which shows that the building expo has lived up to its expectation which is to introduce new and innovative technology.
