One day after 19-year-old Anisa Miguel’s body was found floating in Baboon Island, Middle Mazaruni River, her family members are shocked and are still unable to come to grips with the fact that she has died.
Her aunt, Elizabeth Betty Adolph, on Monday told MTV News Update that she does not have words to describe the current state of the family.
“There are no words to express how we feel as a family here right now. Even though we try to summon it into words, there is no word we can express how we are doing.”
Elizabeth said she needs justice for her niece, who has left a four-year-old son with her.
“Whatever happened there, we need justice; we need an answer to what happened here,” Elizabeth said.
Aubrey Miguel, Anisa’s father, who was overcome with grief, only managed monosyllabic answers to questions asked. Anisa was the third child, and her mother, Debra Stevens, did not hold back her tears when MTV News Update spoke to her via telephone.
Anisa’s body was found on Sunday at around 10:30h floating in the area of Baboon Island, Middle Mazaruni River, approximately four miles away from Martin’s Landing, where she was last seen alive.
She was clad in blue jeans and a pink top with no footwear. A Detective examined the body and observed that the neck area bore a red mark. She leaves to mourn her parents, family members, and four-year-old son.
