Weeding machine thief jailed for seven months
Phillips Adams, 48, was jailed Monday for stealing a weeding machine on March 2, 2024.
The defendant appeared virtually before Senior Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to stealing a $120,000 weeding machine from Lamaha Street, Georgetown.
The court heard that the victim had secured his machine in a guard hut and left.
However, the following day, around 01:00 hrs, his security guard alerted him that Adams had jumped the fence, entered the guard hut, and removed the weeding machine. Adams was later caught with the machine in his possession.
Acknowledging Adams’ admission of guilt, Magistrate Nurse weighed the severity and frequency of the offence, noting that the defendant did not waste judicial time and had no prior criminal record.
Consequently, Adams was sentenced to seven months imprisonment for the theft.
