Welder, 24, fatally stabbed during row at West Bank party

Allie Augustine, a 24-year-old welder of Lot 28 Lust-En-Rust, West Bank Demerara (WBD), was fatally stabbed at a party in his village on Saturday night.

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) said the incident occurred at about 22:30h at Lot 37 Lust-En-Rust.

Reports are that Augustine became involved in an argument with a group of villagers over an old grievance. The heated exchange quickly escalated into a physical altercation between Augustine and several young men.

During the scuffle, Augustine was stabbed. He attempted to flee but collapsed in a nearby yard a short distance from the scene. Residents in the area immediately alerted the police.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Augustine with a single stab wound to his left armpit. He was rushed to the West Demerara Regional Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending doctor.

His body has since been transferred to Ezekiel Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

In the aftermath of the incident, police have questioned several individuals. Based on the information gathered, four persons have been arrested and are currently in custody as the investigation continues.
