Whim fisherman jailed for illegal firearm and ammo
A fisherman, who admitted being in possession of an illegal gun and matching ammunition, was thrown behind bars on Thursday.
Govindra Swambeer, 38, of Whim Corentyne, Berbice pleaded guilty to the two firearm-related charges during his appearance before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh in the Whim Magistrate's Court.
After his guilty plea, Swambeer was sentenced to months each on both charges. Swambeer was arrested at Whim on Wednesday with two single-barrel 12-gauge shotguns and five cartridges.
