The West Central Mall, which is currently being built at Leonora, West Coast Demerara (WCD), is expected to be completed by December and what is even more exciting is that some of the businesses in this mall will be offering 24-hour services.
This was revealed by the mall’s Managing Director Bhabita ‘Vanie’ Sookraj, during an interview with MTV News Update on Friday.
“This mall will act as a hub for everybody[…]One thing that what we want do here is to not have that limitation from 10 am to 10 pm in the evening like we always see at all the other malls, because one thing I can tell you for sure when 10:00hrs hits in the night you can’t go anywhere to grab a bite,” Sookraj posited.
She added, “We are going to have a 24-hour service in some of the businesses, such as a café, where you can come in and just grab a bite, and you go, of course, with security.”
According to Sookraj, Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) would also be housed at the mall, and security will be top tier.
Noting that many young professionals are willing to go the extra mile, the Managing Director said that her family recognises the need to have such a facility that provides a 24-hour service.
The investment for this project, which is the first of its kind on the ‘West Side,’ is estimated at US$5 million, and some of the services that will be offered include a business and conference centre, movie theatre, gym, and supermarket.
When asked why one should choose to visit this mall, Sookraj said not only will some services be available 24/7, but it would be a one-stop shop.
She noted that about 90% of the booths in the mall have already been rented by both Region 3 and national businesses.
The Managing Director promised to bring a mall that has a local atmosphere but is modern in its look.
