Woman, 36, stabbed by ex-boyfriend

A 39-year-old woman was stabbed by her ex-boyfriend earlier this morning over a misunderstanding about their relationship.

The injured woman has been identified as Sharon Hoppie of Lot 32 Hadfield Street, Lodge. The incident occurred at about 3:30h.

The initial investigation revealed that the victim and the accused shared a relationship that ended about two months ago and started a new one. However, the suspect would visit her from time to time.

A report from the Police said that at about 00:30h today, the accused visited the victim’s home and met the male, who subsequently left.

The victim and the accused then had a misunderstanding about their relationship, and due to the time of night, she allowed the accused to sleep at her home.

Hoppie went to bed at about 02:00h, leaving the suspect in the house. At 03:30h, the accused went into the victim’s room, which was not locked, and went over her with a knife in his right hand.

“She tried to fight the accused off, and he dealt her a stab to her left-side neck and another to her right-side abdomen, after which he exited the house and fled the scene to an unknown location,” the release said.

An alarm was raised, and she was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) by a neighbour where she was admitted as a patient, and her condition was regarded as stable.

Checks were made for the accused, but he is still to be apprehended. Police investigations are ongoing.
