Woman, 50, stabs 'abusive' husband to death in Reg. 1, then went to bed

A 50-year-old woman is in police custody for the alleged murder of her 43-year-old husband, who was stabbed to the neck between Thursday and Friday at 10 Miles, Port Kaituma, North West District (NWD).

Dead is Felix Henry, called "Oldie," a Chainsaw Operator of Port Kaituma, NWD.

MTV News Update understands that Henry and the 50-year-old woman shared a 20-year abusive relationship and lived in a flat make-shift one-bedroom wooden house.

Reports are that between Thursday at about 17:00h and Friday, at 07:40h, the deceased and the woman were home imbibing when a misunderstanding ensued.

The suspect claimed that the victim armed himself with a cutlass and chased her around the yard. In return, she went into the house and armed herself with a knife, and stabbed him once to his neck in the kitchen. Henry then collapsed, and the suspect went to bed and slept.

"When she woke up on the morning of May 20th, she found the victim lying motionless with a stab wound to his neck," the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said.

According to the GPF, the suspect's 28-year-old son went to the house, where he saw the victim lying motionless. He immediately visited the Port Kaituma Police Station and reported the matter.

The victim's body was escorted to the Port Kaituma Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The body was then placed in the Port Kaituma Hospital Mortuary, awaiting a Post Mortem Examination (PME). The 50-year-old suspect was arrested, and the alleged murder weapon was recovered.
