A mother of two was today remanded to prison for stabbing her common-law husband to the chest with a pair of scissors.
Maria Walcott of East Ruimveldt was hauled before Magistrate Rondel Weever at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The 22-year-old cashier was not required to plead to the charge, which alleged that on January 23, at East Ruimveldt, she unlawfully and maliciously wounded Keshawn Braithwaite, also known as Keshawn Griffith.
The court heard that on the day in question, the couple had a misunderstanding which resulted in Walcott arming herself with a pair of scissors and stabbing Braithwaite.
The police prosecutor objected to bail for the accused, noting that the victim is presently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at a hospital.
As a result, Magistrate Weever remanded Walcott to prison until February 21.
